The serpent, or snake, is one of the oldest and most widespread mythological symbols. Before it was demonized by patriarchal religions the snake was a revered symbol representing fertilityor a creative life force. The skin-sloughing process of snakes symbolizes rebirth, transformation, immortality, healing, and the transmigration of souls.

In ancient Neolithic cultures the snake or serpent was revered as a symbol of rebirth and fertility, a symbol of the Goddess. That symbolism was intentionally altered as the growing patriarchy sought to erase the Goddess forever. Much of Tia’s artwork is influenced by her study of Neolithic cultures and is created as a statement in support of the return of the Sacred Feminine.

Constructed by hand from recycled cardboard and paper mâché. Each altar contains a hidden prayer. The paint is layered on in thin washes and finally the gold leaf is added creating a stunning, one of a kind piece of sacred art.
